Learn More About SoftTouch

The SoftTouch device was extensively tested at the Transportation Research Center in East Liberty, Ohio. The research engineers compared the pressure per square inch of the SoftTouch product to that of a regular automobile seat belt. The test was conducted to simulate an 18g. 30 m.p.h. frontal impact crash. The pressure was measured against the chest wall of two ballast 50th percentile, anthropomorphic crash test dummies, one each in model year 1995 Toyota Camry driver seats mounted to the TRC Hyge sled. The SoftTouch device reduced the pressure per square inch by 34% over the implanted area.

This is a summary of the findings of the Transportation Research Center, more advanced SoftTouch information is also available.

Seat Belt Compliance

Research has found that lap/shoulder belts, when used properly, reduce the risk of fatal injury to front seat passenger car occupants by 45% and the risk of moderate-to-critical injury by 50%. For each injury-related death, there are 19 injuries needing hospitalization and another 300 injuries that require medical attention. Every year, one in four Americans will have a potentially preventable injury serious enough to require medical care. These injuries account for almost 10% of all physician office visits and 38% of all hospital emergency visits (1). Statistics show that in a two-vehicle fatal crash involving and older and a younger driver, it is 3.1 times as likely that the vehicle driven by the older person will be struck. In 27% of these two-vehicle fatal crashes the older driver was turning left (2).

"The SoftTouch device is very innovative and addresses a need that has been overlooked in our industry."
-- Dr. Firas Hamdan, MD (Cardiac Electrophysiologist)

It is very important to wear your seat belt. It is not only the law, but it has been proven to save lives as well. The SoftTouch device enables you to wear your seat belt with the comfort and protection you need. Don't put your life in danger by not wearing your seat belt.
